Reception of a delegation from the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO)
On Wednesday, 26 June 2019, Basma Society for Culture and Arts received a delegation from the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) at its office in Gaza City. Mr. Nahed Hanouna, Director General of Basma society, welcomed the members of the delegation and commended this visit as a representative of the staff of the society.
During the meeting, Mr Hanouna reviewed a detailed presentation of the society's programs, and highlighted the most important programs like the Culture and Arts Program, the psychological and social support program and the Palestinian youth network program.
In turn, Ms. Salam Bannoura, Assistant Project Director, pointed out that UNESCO appreciated the efforts of the project team in implementing such qualitative activities, her organization pays great attention to the empowerment of youth through culture and the arts, as this project comes to contribute to the strengthening of the community theatre and the development of non-methodological programs within educational institutions in Gaza Strip. In this context, the activities of the project "Empowering Gaza Youth through the Theater" were discussed after meeting the students of the community theater training program and entered the second stage of preparation for the start of the training.
The project is supported by (UNESCO) and funded by the International Fund for Cultural Diversity (IFCD), which aims at promoting cultural diversity and empowering Gaza Strip youth through the development of community theater and modern methods of education for university students through the development of non-methodological activities, educational programs and the promotion of Palestinian creativity.
