Empowering youth and promoting community participation.

The following were implmented:

  • An introductory workshop was held with the volunteer students to know about the society and the project.
  • Conduct a consultative meeting with volunteer students on the project discussions.
  • Implementation of needs identification workshop that address the most important issues and problems facing youth.
  • Implementation of the first training course for volunteers which include three subjects: (Leadership course_ Communication and community participation course_ Conflict transformation and conflict resolution course).
  •  The second training is the implementation of training courses conducted by volunteers trained in the first part.
  • 12 performances for "A hair Left" play discussing the problem of youth unemployment.
  • 12 play performances were presented entitled “The Girl from Our Neighborhood”, shed the light on the negative view of the community for persons with disabilities.
  • 12 presentations of the play “I am not Alone”, highlights the weakness of community participation, through scenes showing the domination of some parents and depriving the girl from participating in the service of society.
  • 5 youth initiatives were implemented to integrate youth into society and develop entrepreneurship in them.

  Basma Society for Culture and Arts is an independent non-profit society founded in Gaza Strip in 1994. Basma society works in the field of culture and  arts, It specializes in theater, drama and psychosocial support, to contribute in the Palestinian community development through the provision of cultural, educational and recreational activities and psychosocial support activities, targeting children, youth and women, including persons with disabilities.
